N Golo Kante came to lime-light after Leicester City won their Premier League, which became the famous underdog story of the decade. After that, he moved to Chelsea and gradually came to be known as a midfielder who provides a huge work rate in the midfield. He also secured his place in France-playing XI and won the 2018 World Cup along with his teammates. He is a good ball career and time and again he has shown how he can carry the ball from defense to attack with his blistering pace. If you want quick transition play in your team you would love to have him. Unfortunately, in August 2022 Kante suffered an injury and since then he has not been able to play on the pitch.
INJURY TYPE & TIME
Kante suffered a Hamstring injury on 14th August, this year vs Tottenham and since then has not featured in any game. Chelsea's new manager Graham Potter told to media that he recently underwent surgery and will be out for 4 months following the surgery. This means he is going to miss the World Cup event.
CONCERN FOR FRANCE?
To play in World Cup is a dream for every football player and an Injury before that for sure downs the morale and excitement of a player. But Kante has already won a World Cup which is a big thing for any player in his career. So will the concern be for France as they will go into the tournament without a key player in their midfield? The answer would probably be yes because they would be missing such a player who provides an ample amount of work rate in the midfield, a player who can be pivotal in taking control of the midfield in any match.
Now another question: Will it affect France? The answer is probably no. France has got ample quality in their midfield with high bench strength.
Tchoumeni & Camavinga.
Tchoumeni in Nations League.
The 2 young midfielders playing for Real Madrid, have already drawn the attention of Football fans and experts. After the departure of Casemiro, they are already playing that role quite well.
Both can play in CM or DCM positions and hence are perfect to fill the gap of injured N Golo Kante. Probably they will be at the top of the priority list of Didier Deschamps.
2. Boubacar Kamara.
This young central defensive midfielder is good at tackling and positioning and may also make a chance for himself in the starting XI in group stages to replace N Golo Kante. His performance in Marseille earned him a contract with the Premier League side Aston Villa.
3. Youssouf Fofana.
23 Year midfielder, who plays for AS Monaco. He has already earned a position in Deschamp's starting XI in the September Nations League match vs Austria in which France won 2-0. He probably would be one of the favorites after Camavinga and Tchoumeni.
4. Adrain Rabiot.
He has experience under his belt, but not exactly a CDM. So probably would not be the fav to replace Knate but surely if he plays can provide stability in France's midfield and help his team operate through the midfield. He has got good eyes for Long Balls.
5. Corentin Tolisso.
He is a creative midfielder and a playmaker. He might get a chance to play for France in the World Cup if Pogba will miss the tournament or if the manager decides not to play Pogba in all matches as he would be returning from a Knee Injury. But Tolisso's defensive work rate is not that impressive & he might not be the replacement for Kante.
Other players that France has in that position are Moussa Sissoko and Thomas Lemar. Lemar plays for Athletico de Madrid and has good technique & creativity. He is best suited for AM position.
