Today in Laliga Real Madrid was in a class of its own. They thrashed Valladolid by six goals. Though the start was shaky for Madrid and fans in the stands in Bernabue were booing the players, as soon as Ancelotti's men got the first goal when Rodrygo scored from an assist from Asensio it looked like Madrid was completely a different team compared to how they started the game. Before that Valladolid even hit Madrid's post once. In Laliga Madrid now has 59 points from 27 points and they are 12 points behind league leaders Barcelona after playing the same no. of games.
After Rodrigo scored the first goal from a quick transition, Benzema scored a hat trick within 7 minutes. Within those 7 mins, he looked invincible within the opposition's penalty box. He scored the first one from a Vinicius Jr assist after a diving header; it was something special to watch. Within 1st half, Madrid was 4-0 up and Valladolid had little clue of what to do. Waves of attack troubled the Valladolid defense. The next 2 goals came in the second half; scored by Asensio and Lucas Vasquez which both of them deserves after their tough grind and some wonderful tactical moves throughout the match.
Tactical Briefing:
Speaking of the tactics of today the first thing that deserves mentioning is the work rate each and every Real Madrid players were giving on the pitch which facilitated the fluidity within their game. Real Madrid had no rigid structure on the pitch yet; identifying the free spaces, off-the-ball movement at the right places, at the right time & off-ball work rate really helped Madrid to link up at every section of the field, buildup very quickly, and move forward.
Lucas Vazquez- His brilliant tactical moves on the pitch were noticeable. Whenever Asensio, Kroos was dropping in for buildup from the back-left side of the pitch and carrying the ball; Vazquez was willing and enthusiastic enough to move a little up and tuck inside the middle channel of the pitch, act as an inverted full-back and establish a connection between a progressing midfield and forward line while performing his duties correctly at the wide channels both in defense and attack.
Asensio- He was brilliant in the No 10 role today. From creating those chances for the forward line to scoring a goal he did everything.
Vinicius Jr- He is absolutely a gem for Real Madrid. On the left wing he is "One man enough". He chopped in and chopped out to make life difficult for Valladolid defenders throughout the match. Several times he cut in with composure and moved to really threatening positions inside the box but unfortunately couldn't score.
Karim Benzema- The last time Ballon'd'or winner surely is the man of the day in the world of football and it looked like he is not happy with one Ballon'd'or; he wants more. Scored a hat trick within 7 mins and never shy away from dropping deep to help in the buildup from midfield. He is becoming better every day.
Thank You.
