As the Qatar edition of the 2022 Fifa World Cup is going to kick off today on 20th November, the first match will be played between hosts Qatar and Ecuador. This World Cup is special in a way for a generation of fans because it might be the last for GOATs Ronaldo and Messi. Many in the world of Football are saying, Portugal has the team this time to win the World Cup and finally, Ronaldo can retire with the biggest title in his cabinet.

The Portuguese squad this time is considered to be a golden generation. This squad has many quality players at once, which Portugal probably has never seen. There was some doubt though about the team management and how well the team will coordinate, but the recent pre-world cup preparation against Nigeria showed that they are quite well prepared.
Portugal won by a margin of 4-0, Bruno Fernandes scored 2 goals, Joao Mario scored one and young 21-year-old Centre Forward Goncalo Ramos scored another one. The team chemistry and coordination throughout the 90 mins looked quite good.

1) Joao Felix- He was very impressive, had a great work rate, contributed in the buildup quite often dropped into the midfield, made some key goal-scoring passes and almost scored a goal when he was denied by the fingertips of the goalkeeper.
2) Bruno Fernandes- Scored 2 goals, one from open play and another from the penalty. He was quite the leader on the pitch.
3) Goncalo Ramos ( pronunciation- Gonzalo) - The 21-year-old Striker of Benfica made his debut for Portugal and got a chance to bury the ball in the net. A good start to the National team carrier and will give lots of confidence as Portugal goes into the World Cup.
4) Rui Patricio- He was solid at the goal, saved a penalty, and prevented Nigeria from scoring on two great one-on-one opportunities.
From Portugal's recent performance, one would be optimistic they will put up a good show in the world cup and may end up winning the title. If they win Cristiano Ronaldo and fans can probably call him the GOAT of all times.
