Liverpool is currently 11 points behind the league leaders in the Premier League table, and their recent run of form has been terrible. Liverpool appears to have a variety of issues, ranging from defence to attack.
With their recent performance against Brighton Hove-Albion, Liverpool recorded a 3-3 draw. After going behind in the initial phases, Liverpool managed to come back during the latter half of the game thanks to Firmino, but hattrick goals from Trossard sealed a draw at Anfield for Brighton.
How Liverpool managed to let 3 goals pass was the question. with heavy scrutiny levelled at the defence.
Virgil van Dijk is probably having his worst time at Anfield with his poor performance. Many fans claim he has turned into Harry Maguire.
The Dutchman has been the rock Liverpool needed back then to strengthen their squad. The 75 million euro defender has been nothing but a legend at Anfield. With Liverpool, he has played in 3 Champions Finals, winning 1.
This year, though, Van Dijk has been at clear fault for some of the goals Liverpool has conceded.
Is Sadio Mane's departure from Liverpool the reason for the difficult start?
Sadio Mane has been Jurgen Klopp's main man in recent years, and the Senegalese was a star at Anfield.
His link-up play with Salah and late goals helped Liverpool come back from tough situations.
Sadio Mane’s work rate is what Liverpool might be missing right now. Luiz Diaz has drifted towards Mane’s position, but Diaz might be the complete opposite of what Mane brought to the team. Diaz, being young and energetic, likes to run in and get cutbacks, while Mane brings more team-play characteristics.
Without Mane, even Salah looks like a shell of his former self. He has not been as effective in front of goals as he was. The Egyptian is finding it difficult to score now.
Salah has also received criticism for his low goal tally this season, but the Egyptian appears to be back to his best as the departure of Sadio Mane may have hampered his performances.
It is looking very tough for the Champions League runners-up from last season to fight for the title in any competition, but there must be enough trust and support from Liverpool fans for Jurgen Klopp for his decision to lead Liverpool in upcoming matches.
